I'm a very active person. I've always been. Even in my 80s, I did not like sitting at home idly. From the time I wake up, I keep on doing things. One morning, I was having breakfast with my family when I noticed some weakness in my right upper and lower limbs. We went immediately to our trusted Zydus Hospitals to see a specialist before things got any worse. At Zydus Hospitals, Dr. Rushikesh examined me in his OPD after clinically identifying the cause, and because the symptoms had only begun 2-2.5 hours before, he and his team immediately activated Code White, the brain stroke code. I was immediately shifted to the Emergency Room, where I underwent an MRI. The scan revealed an artery blockage on the left side of the brain caused by a blood clot. The Doctors calmly explained the situation to my family, and it was decided to dissolve the blockage using a clot-busting drug, tenecteplase, via an intravenous (IV) line. I was shifted to the ICU and closely monitored. Within a few hours, I could feel an incredible improvement in the strength of my right arm and leg, going from complete non-functioning to normal power. By the end of the day, I had almost completely recovered and was shifted to a regular room the next day. I got back home after a couple of days. With all the exercises I do in my routine and now with the addition of physiotherapy, as advised by the doctors, to strengthen my muscles, I have a more active life.
