Dr. Raman Patel, a Sr. Gynaecologist IVF Specialist, Endoscopic, and Robotic Surgeon at Zydus Hospitals, exemplifies that there is no age limit for learning something new. At the age when most people retire, he learned Endoscopy surgery to honor his son's legacy. Later, after witnessing a robot at Zydus Hospitals, his curiosity drove him to learn Robotic Surgery at the age of 71. In this episode of Stories of Hope, the Sr. Gynec Surgeon who delivered the first IVF baby of North Gujarat in Feb 1998 discusses IVF's conventional techniques, landmark breakthroughs, and how IVF allows couples to have a healthy child. He also discusses the importance of egg reserve, the estrogen hormone shield in women, and dispels the misconception that women are entirely responsible for infertility by emphasizing that both males and females are responsible for infertility. Also, watch him on DD Girnar this Friday at 6:00 P.M. 24th Nov '23 describing various facets of Robotics in Gynaecology. A year ago, during the joyous Diwali celebration, an unexpected turn of events altered the course of my life. I woke up the next day unable to move my arm, and it was later diagnosed as a stroke. The ensuing weeks in Lucknow were filled with therapy, but progress was slow, and uncertainty loomed. Searching for answers, my wife, employed by Zydus Group, introduced me to Dr. Arvind Sharma in Ahmedabad. Under Dr. Sharma's guidance and a battery of tests, a shocking revelation emerged - Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Which was also treated by Dr Talati later. The untreated condition posed long-term risks of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Empowered by this knowledge, I journeyed to reclaim my health. Utilizing a CPAP machine, shedding significant weight, and adopting a proactive approach, I successfully managed my diabetes and hypertension then and am now on no medication for the same. Recovery wasn't a smooth path. Driven by determination and aided by innovative techniques, including using robots and games in therapy, I regained mobility. While the stroke left its mark, I now lead a normal life – driving, working, and embracing a second chance at health. My story is a testament to resilience and the significance of self-care. I share this narrative with fellow stroke survivors, assuring them they are not alone. The journey is arduous, but recovery is possible. My gratitude extends to my family, dedicated doctors, and therapists who supported me. Reflecting on this transformative period, the stroke took something from me but instilled a profound appreciation for life and resilience. To those navigating their stroke journey, fear not; you will emerge stronger. The road to recovery may be challenging, but it paves the way for a happier, healthier future. As Diwali approaches, I extend heartfelt wishes for a joyous celebration and a renewed commitment to self-care. In the heart of a bustling city, amid towering skyscrapers and the constant rhythm of life, there's a tale of resilience, teamwork, and the indomitable spirit of medical professionals. Mr. Jain had been battling chronic renal failure for 7 to 8 years, relying on thrice-weekly dialysis to survive. Adding to his ordeal, a severe blockage in his femoral artery led to monophasic blood flow and a lack of oxygen in his toes. To make matters worse, he'd endured a fractured femur for three grueling months. Dr Yatin Desai's ortho team at Zydus, with a dedicated nephrology team, had the mission to mend Mr. Jain's broken hip and restore his quality of life. On the day of the surgery, the operating room buzzed with determination. Surgeons, nurses, & support staff were united by a shared vision to help Mr. Jain's regain his life. With precision and unwavering commitment, they replaced his fractured hip, defying the odds and skeptics. Today, Mr. Jain stands as a living testament to the audacity and dedication that thrive at Zydus Hospital. Sometimes the tiniest mosquito bite can lead to severe and life-threatening consequences. Such a tiny bite of an Aedes mosquito turned the life upside down of Rajat, a 33-year-old man from an interior town in Rajasthan. The little but lethal bite wreaked havoc, & he found himself in the grip of another life-threatening illness, dengue infection, after surviving COVID. With severe weakness, dizziness, & dehydration, he was rushed to Zydus Hospitals & was under the supervision of Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Nimit Shah. But with the visible signs of decreased oxygen levels and deteriorating kidney function, he was taken to the ICU and kept on ventilator support under the care of Dr. Amit Patel, a Critical Care Specialist. To make matters worse, Rajat began to bleed from his nasal passages, throat, & gastrointestinal tract. The planning of Zydus Hospitals' Hematologist, Dr. Nidhi Jain, & Sr. ENT Surgeon, Dr. Lav Selarka, controlled bleeding & reduced the danger of infections. However, the continued bleeding and dark tarry stool plainly suggested upper GI tract bleeding, necessitating the consultation of Dr. Hardik Kotecha, Sr. Gastroenterologist, & Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr. Ketan Patel. Dr. Devang Patwari, Sr. Nephrologist, was also called in to help Rajat with his deteriorating kidneys During his 21-day stay in the ICU, the exceptional team of super specialists meticulously devised a plan to meet his dialysis routine. He was given 64 blood product supplementation amidst constantly deteriorating kidney, liver, & platelet levels. Gradually, signs of improvement emerged and he was taken off ventilator and started producing urine so didn't require dialysis. With improvement in his clinical state, he was transferred to a regular ward for physical therapy assisted rehabilitation. A critical care Physiotherapist and her team’s intense physical therapy assisted in his rehabilitation & complete recovery. Surviving a rare and severe dengue with a 50% mortality rate would not have been possible without Rajat's unwavering perseverance & the meticulous team work of the Super Specialists at the Zydus Hospital.

Once a highly active woman, now at the age of 55, she endured seven long years fighting the relentless grip of severe back pain and the rapid effects of accelerated aging-related changes on her spine. This struggle forced her into a stooped posture due to the bending of her spine at a relatively young age. While she sought the expertise of Dr. Niraj Vasavada, Sr. Spine Surgeon at Zydus Hospitals, he advised something unconventional. In more severe cases like hers, traditional corrective spine surgeries involve long, deep incisions, often up to 10 inches in length, significant blood loss of 800-900 ml, extensive muscle dissection, and a heightened risk of infection. However, Dr. Niraj presented her with a minimally invasive keyhole approach that she eventually opted for as it promised to mitigate many of the drawbacks associated with conventional surgeries. The surgical team skillfully made four to five small half-inch incisions and artfully realigned her deformed spine through these small openings. They also made a small abdominal incision to carefully remove the damaged disc and replace it with a new disc and a spacer, restoring her spine’s alignment. Remarkably, within 24 hours post-surgery, she could stand upright with her stoop corrected. Although this key-hole approach carried certain challenges such as the risk of damaging major vessels, however, Dr. Niraj’s extensive experience of successfully performing numerous such surgeries since 2015 proved invaluable. He is one of the very few surgeons in Western India who performs such multi-level minimally invasive surgeries with ease. Within weeks, she seamlessly resumed her daily activities, now pain-free. Little did she realize that this decision would relieve her long-term suffering and completely transform her life. #SpineHealth #MinimallyInvasiveSurgery #OrthopedicCare #BackPainRelief #SpineRecovery #HealthcareTransformation #ZydusHospitals #AdvancedMedicine #ScoliosisRecovery #OrthopedicInnovation #LifeChangingSurgery #PainFreeLife #InnovativeTreatment

For years he endured facial and neck swelling on his left side. Countless doctors were puzzled over his condition and failed to provide a definitive diagnosis. At last, his family decided to seek help at Zydus Hospitals, Ahmedabad, where Dr. Lav Selarka, a Senior Cochlear Implant Surgeon & ENT specialist made a primary diagnosis of a benign superficial lesion of the left parotid gland after conducting repeat neck ultrasounds and an MRI scan. This rare parotid lesion perched perilously over the facial nerve, creating a delicate situation where even the slightest mistake could potentially lead to facial nerve palsy/paralysis and disfigurement. Despite being explained the risks of the procedure, he and his family completely trusted the skilled hands of Dr. Lav at Zydus. With cutting-edge techniques such as intra-operative nerve monitoring, Dr. Lav and Dr. Tvarita could thoroughly examine every rootlet while performing the superficial parotidectomy to avoid any nerve damage. The surgery was meticulously performed and helped successfully remove the troublesome lesion. The patient's recovery was remarkably smooth, and he was discharged the following day. This story serves as a testament to the patient's trust in the exceptional medical team at Zydus and advancements in modern medicine, which, together, allowed him to reclaim a healthy happy life. #MedicalMiracle #ZydusHospitals #MedicalBreakthrough #ENTSpecialist #FacialSwelling #ParotidGlandLesion #FacialNerveMonitoring #ModernMedicine #HealthcareInnovation #PatientSuccessStory #MedicalAdvancements #ENTSurgeon #FacialNerveHealth #HealthcareTrust #RecoveryJourney #ZydusCare #HealthcareExcellence #FacialHealth #PatientTrust #MedicalAdvances #ZydusSuccess #FacialNerveSurgery #MedicalInnovation #HealthcareExperts #InnovativeSurgery #HealthcareOutcome #ZydusHealthcare #LinkedInTrending
