Patient miss Devanshiba, a 20-year-old female was suffering from tethered cord with lipoma in dorsal and sacral region of her back since birth. She was also suffering from sinus and purulent discharge from it.
There were multiple pathologies at 2 levels - where the upper level pathologies were duplication of cord separated by bony spur with lipoma & infected dermal sinus; and the lower level pathology was low lying, tethered cord.
Keeping her conditions in mind, the patient was operated upon by Dr. Dipak Patel, our Senior Neurosurgeon and his team. At upper level, excision of bony spur, repair of dural tube, excision of lipoma & excision of dermal sinus was done; whereas at lower level, detethering of cord was done.
The patient recovered well post operation, and was discharged.
